Junior Civil - Structural Engineer Co-op

Location: London, Ontario

Responsibilities:

  • Complete and review detailed engineering design calculations; coordinating of drawings with drafting staff;
  • Develop and evaluate design alternatives;
  • Develop cost estimates and construction specifications;
  • Write proposals;
  • Meet with clients;
  • Provide contract tendering and administration services;
  • Carry out field work including structure condition assessments, field measurements, and construction inspections;
  • Contribute to business development, write design reports;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in Civil or Structural Engineering Program;
  • Demonstrated technical competencies and skills in civil engineering or structural engineering;
  • Motivation to broaden experience in the areas of design, construction, project management, operations and supervision within a multi-disciplinary consulting environment;
  • Experience and aptitude to work with the following software packages: S-Frame, Microsoft Office and AutoCAD is an asset;
  • Experience with Municipal Drains under the Drainage Act, R.S.O. 1990 is an asset;
  • Possess strong organizational, oral, written communication, and problem solving skills; have an approachable enthusiastic interpersonal style;
  • Must be self-starters with the ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment;
  • Prior experience in a small sized, rural consulting firm with an ownership position would be looked upon favourably.
